A picture of the original owner of Ray's. I know that my friends Roger and Jim have fond memories of this guy.
The present owner, a decendant of the original, daughter or granddaughter, not sure. My sister in law is aquainted with her. Very likable lady. When you come to Ray's, make sure you tell her that the white haired guy from Mo. sent you. That's good for a discount. Such a pleasant lady.
I could tell when we walked in that this was going to be fantastic. Was it the smell of the food, no. Was it the bargain prices on the board, no. Was it because my brother was paying, no. I slipped on the greasy floor wearing my leather sole boots. There is your indication right there. If the floor is slick, with a slight covering of grease, it is going to be good.
A good shot behind the counter. These folks were very busy.

Click this up if you can. It is a great tribute to the original working folks at this resturant.

Roger, do you recognize this sign? I know that you do. What a nice little out of the way spot for lunch. All 4 of us ate for about 20 bux. That is a bargain in today's world. When you come to Monroe, make sure that you head out to Ray's. You will always treasure the memory.
Teri has worked inside the house today, continuing a painting project. I was busy cleaning and polishing the wheels on the GMC. Got to look good for the convention. Rubbed some dust off the engine and cleaned the glass engine cover so folks can see what propels the GMC along. Tomorrow will be our last full day here in Monroe. Got to hit the road Thursday for the 475 mile trip to one of the peanut capitols of the USA. I am going to love it. I loved parched peanuts and usually have a few every evening. Maybe we can load up while we are there.

thanks for checking in on us. All is well and things are progressing as they should. See everyone in Dothan.

Tole ya! {:>) Did I forget to tell you about the gravy? Guess I did. Actually, this is the third location that I know of. The other two were across the street from the college. But, the food was the same since forever. Always worth a stop if you're within a hundred miles of Monroe.
ReplyDeleteUmm! Good. You also dip those fries in the gravy. Ray's customers always come back no matter how far they roam or how old they get.

Yep, the fries too. Loved it. Thanks for sending us over there. We will go back every time we are here now.
