What a Day

I was up early again this morning. I hate those days. I am going to sleep until 830 in the morning. I had a problem that I needed expert advice on with the GMC. Had planned to go get my experts at 8 am so I had to get up. Anyway, grabbed Manny, Gene, and Gary from up at the GMC camp and brought them to the coach. They got me all straight and were gone by 930-10 am. Teri had a ladies meeting until 11. then Kathy and Carl grabbed us and off we went. Do you see that mountain in the picture? We drove Carl's Jeep 5 miles south on 95. Then we drove 7 miles east, on a gravel, until we came to the end of the road. The plan, well seems the three wanted to hike up this mountain and over into a pass. Can you tell how excited I was? the wind was blowing up there and I was freezing. I had to go with them to stay warm by moving.

Way back in there is where we were headed.

The reason we went? Well, if you blow up this picture and look really hard, you can see a clump of palm trees growing out of the rock mountain wall. Kinda wierd but it was worth the climb. My favorite part was coming back down out of there. Looked to me like this hike was made for billy goats, not me.

Half way out I shot this picture. Way out there is the highway that will take us home. It was a pretty sight on a cloudy windy morning.

I felt like I should have recieved some kind of badge for this one. Kinda like the boy scouts get. Teri enjoyed it so I enjoyed it. Was great company, Carl and Kathy. Thanks, for taking us with you.

If you tracked our car today you will see we made a trip this afternoon to Parker. Was a nice ride, 45 miles. They have a new Walmart so we broke it in for them. Got back to Quartzsite about 5 and stopped for a dollar bag of ice. Well, my ice went up 50 cents. that is a lot of inflation since Saturday. I better slow down. Wish I had my icemaker running but it is too much drag on my batteries to mess with.
Was cloudy this afternoon here. Up the road 10 miles the sun was out and shining hard. I like sun, it is free electricity to me. We have been here since Thursday with no need of a generator. I love it. If it rains for a couple of days, as predicted, I will have to run one for a couple of hours later in the week. Even on cloudy days I get a fairly good charge but if it rains I dount much solar will come through from the sun. We will see. I hear a few sprinkles out there now.

I came in and Teri fixed supper for Ken, me, and herself. At dark we had a nice big fire just a ways up from where we are parked so we went down and mingled with the radio operators for an hour or so.
Before dark I shot some radio antenna pictures. Look at these things.

This one has a rotor on it.

All kind of contraptions.

RVs parked as far as you can see in a 360 degree circle. Most have solar systems that dwarf our's. Overkill on many of them but that is what they want and it is their money. We have a 300 watt system that we built. Works perfect for our needs.

Teri has a ladie's craft to teach tomorrow. Not sure just what all I will get into. I guess it depends on the weather. I have a new brake booster I want to install if it is not windy or raining. Thanks for coming by again. Maybe we can get more pictures for tomorrow. I am still looking for a digital camera for under 50 bux.
