Another Geocache in Arizona
Here Teri and Anne are getting all geared up for our first of five today. This is an old dam that was probably built by the ccc if not before. We saw some great sights today. Just look at the pictures.Just look at the sights back here. Folks never experience these unless they are geocaching.
Anne Trying to get down into the wash.
My sweetheart.
Look at the mountain in the background.
Cactus everywhere and so many different kinds. I think Al counted 5 varieties right here.
The girls were first to the cache, as always.
Logging in.
This was inside this one. I never did read it but I do recall that they also made these when Clinton was in office. Must be a democrat thing or something. Rush Limbaugh probably came up with this, I don't know.
The inside view of the old dam.
Here is the main navigator. Without me on the internet these guys would still be out there looking for the first place to start with the handhelds. We had internet all day in the mountains. Sure comes in handy on these type trips.
2nd Find of the day. I think Anne found this one also.
Click this one up and look at the trail we were on. I took this at about 5,000 ft. We did climb up to about 5500 ft just after I took this shot.
Here is Anne with the fourth find of the day. Al, "stumbled" onto the 3rd one but we failed to get a photo of that one. If you read my "update from the field", below, that is where the third one was. I was laughing so hard sitting in the truck and watching those three that we did not think to get a picture with our camera. I think Anne got one with her's.
A view from 5500 ft. of the mines up at Morenci.
And, here they are running out to find the 5th one of the day. When the truck stops these guys jump out running. Takes me a bit to get loose from the computer and wires.
Looks like Teri got lucky here. The funniest of all today. Long after we were finished Al was still walking around with his gps trying to make it read the coordiantes on the stash. I was falling over laughing. He is about to get it all figured out though. He and Anne are ready to try this on their own now.
Click it up and look behind Teri. You can see what type container was found. Lots of these in use out here in the desert and on the mountains.
This is a pretty little campground on the Gila River.
Well, today we had a bridge to cross the river and did not need to ford it. This was nice.
That is it for today. We did about 90 miles. Most of our day was on or near the Black Hills Back Country Byway. This is an old road that runs from Clifton to Safford. I would hate to drive this much but the early settlers used it as their main road.
