Released From the GMC Motorhome

Oh yea, I was tired of hanging around here. Today was such a pretty day that Teri and I took off up 191 geocaching and sight seeing. Check the tracker if you want to see where these pictures came from. Here is a shot of the copper mine just north of Morenci.

Another look down into the mine.

This was at 6,00 ft. Our first cache for the afternoon. As you can see, the snow was there.

Another look into the mine.

It was beautiful up there today. Lots of switchbacks but worth every one.

Snow was not too deep here.

Teri standing above our second find of the day.

We were getting close to 7000 ft. here. The snow was getting deeper.

One lonely grave on this hill side. I could not get to it to read what was on the tombstone.

At this spot the snow was at least a foot deep. Made this cache impossible for us to locate. The next two were off the main hiway so we had to skip them also. Snow got about 18 inches deep.

Look at those mountains over in New Mexico.

This is one of the caches I located today. Found 2 just like this. You are looking up into an overhang. The magnetic keyholder has the cache.

It was beautiful up here.

Ok, here is where the snow got deep. We were almost to our highest peak of the day, 7450 ft.

Looking back south into Arizona.

Coming back down the mountains into the copper mines.

Have you ever seen those monster dump trucks on the Discovery Channel? The ones that will hold several regular size trucks in their beds, these are them. Blow up the picture and you will see two of the big dump trucks driving along inside the mine. An awesome sight. Not sure how long they have been mining copper here north of Morenci but it has been a long time. Much of Morenci is built on this stuff that was taken from the mountains and laid out nice and neat.
What a day. I was able to get away from the GMC and see the sights with my best friend. What could be any better? the pictures just do not do justice to what we saw up in those mountains. Our kids elk hunt about 35 miles on north of where we turned around this afternoon.
We are winding down our stay here. Monday we plan to head west, making our way to Quartzsite. I love hanging out over there. This year I will be working for a vendor in the Big Tent, the last week we are there. ride with us. You will enjoy the desert too.

Great pics! That is a beautiful area up that way. It's been years since I have been up that way, but I remember it well.
