Out it Came

John let me help him this afternoon. He had everything ready and I lowered the engine down as he guided it out.

Here we go.

Heading south.

And here it is, out and on the engine stand.

You can see I had some oil leaks. I tightened the pan bolts that I could get to but some of them are covered with brackets that kept me from being able to get to them.

We had some intake leaks too. I kept this wiped up as best I could. The intake was retorqued twice but I could never stop this. John says this won't happen when he puts the aluminum intake back on for me.

Here is the hole. You can see my new axles that Jim's boys just installed. Can't wait to get all back in and running again.

Look at the smile on this guy. Last night Herm came and left a note on the coach. He found me via the tracker system on the GMC. He called me again this afternoon and said he was taking me to supper. I tried to talk him out of it. He just would not hear it. So, about 5 or 530 Herm drives up to get me. We have never met in person but it was a fast get to know him. Seems Herm already knew me via the blog. We had a great time. Herm has some real life stories that I enjoyed hearing. It felt good to just listen to him while I rested my tongue. I hope he gets back up this way before I leave. I want to hear more about his life.
Like Herm, I have friends everywhere. I have had calls and lots of emails. Everyone cheers me up. It would be easy to really get down at a time like this but that is not me. Like I have said before, I do get depressed about things but Teri and I always seem to find good things from bad circumstances. Meeting Herm tonight was worth a lot. The guys around the shop are extremely nice to me. I am very appreciative.
So, I am trying to make a few decisions tonight and then get on with the program. We can't hang around Tucson too long. This is not fitting into our plans. Will be warm back east soon and we have grandkids waiting on us.
Thanks for hanging around here with me. I do really appreciate you.
Dan

So Dan what engine are you putting in this year. You getting from a GMC specialist or major engine re-builder. I see you mentioned having it shipped in.
