Oregon
Teri and I had a great drive up the coast today. Weather was great, just a dab windy. Traffic was light. We cruized up and down the mountains, with the car in tow, looking at the sights. The coach ran great. With the 355 final drive we do not notice that we are pulling the car behind us. No problems pulling the grades, even passing a Diesel Pusher with no toad. We drove the coach easy. Tried to keep it at 50 mph. Creeped a little faster going down the grades. We pulled out of Fay and Bert's just before noon, California time. We eased down the 6 mile road of curves and steep grades in first gear. Teri did a great job of running in front of me and letting me know as approaching traffic was rounding curves in the oncoming lane. Stopped one time for fuel in Brookings, Or. The price dropped 40 cents as soon as we got into Oregon. Driving 50-55 mph while towing the car will get us close to 10 mpg. We have plenty of pep to get us up the oncoming grades even when starting them at 50 mph. I for one have got the message that gasoline is way too high priced. I can drive much wiser in the coach as well as in the car. We often get over 35 mpg while driving the Vibe GT. That is a big improvement over what we used to get, 28-30.
So, no pictures. Teri did take some but the camera is out in the car. I am tired and will not put them up tonite. Jerry was waiting for us when we arrived. I could see his big smile from way out in the street. Was great to see him and Rosemary and we look forward to a day with them.
Come back when you have time. We will be easing on up the coast as the new week arrives.
Dan
