Back Roads, USA
Wow, that was a long winter. I think I could write a book. Oh, look back, I guess I did. Seems like I left out very few details on this winter run. Teri and I rolled back in about 11 am. We grabbed some great caches Monday. Saw some really neat places. I have several pictures uploaded. We lost internet up across the Ms. River in Arkansas yesterday. Could not post last night and it caused us to miss a lot of caches. Having no internet got us home a day early. If you rode along you saw us sleeping in the Trumann, Ar. Walmart last night. We found that some of the caches are not good for a motorhome. We had to unhook from the car once so we could get out of there. Then the towbar failed to lock and we had a "wagging car" for a few blocks til I stopped and made sure it locked. This morning 3 cars stopped on a two lane hiway in the lane and in a curve. There was an ambulance meeting us. I nearly took out three vehicles and an ambulance. I can still see the look on the ambulance driver's face as we met. Smoke was rolling from our rear tires as they locked up. Some folks need to take a driving test yearly.
Below, the day started off really good. We rolled out of Monroe about 83 am.
Our first cache.
Neat sign for us to see. I remember guys heading down there when I was little.
I love old tombstones.
Teri at our 3rd stop. Got tovisit with some locals here.
The locals loved our motorcoach.
There was a cache here. The ghosts are convicts. Shooters were on horseback gaurding them. I did not feel comfortable stopping for this cache.
Lots of neat hides.
About to cross the old bridge into Ms. This new one opens July 10.
Look at this new bridge. It is something.
In the tree is one Teri found. Below, swampy park in Greenville, Ms.
Below is a welcome center in Ms.
Casino in Greenvile is no place for a motorhome. We skipped the cache here.
Teri is a serious geocacher. Here we are just before crossing back into AR. at West Helena. This is where we lost internet until we crossed back into Mo.
Like I said, I love old graveyards. This one in Kennett, Mo.
This tombstone gives a death date in 1864.
Our last one today. Bernie, Mo.
The vdub was glad to see us. Put the battery in and it fired right up. Cruised it around town this afternoon.
Life is good in the Gregg home. Teri and I had a great winter, even with the large loss of traveling funds to a new engine and transmission. We made a lot of life long friends. Some of our California friends are coming to visit us this fall.
Thanks for hanging with us this winter. The blog will continue. This thing started as a 4 month thing back in 07. Here it is 3 years later and I am still putting up posts. That is because of all the readers out there. Thanks for your comments. I have no skills in writing but my mom was an English teacher. She taught me how to spell. I do not use spell check so you can see I do miss a word every now and then.
See you later this week.
Dan

Good post! I really enjoyed all the pictures. The writing is not bad either.
Dan and Teri, I am glad you are back home. No matter how much fun you have when you are away, it is always nice to get home. Next time I hit Dexter I will hunt you down.......
Hey Dan, the green leaves above look a lot like poison ivy! Anyone itching yet?
Great being back home I bet. Looking forward to that down the road some day.
