Welcome to the Swamps

Check the time on this photo. We were on the road at 6 am. teri rolled me out of bed at 515 am. this shot was just west of Austin.

Coming into Houston on I-10.

Traffic in Houston was not bad at this time of morning. We were scooting right along. You already know that if you checked out tracker.

Houston.

My favorite part of Houston, seeing it in our rear view mirror.

Can you say swamp lands? You can smell it when you arrive.

We got into a mess here. The state workers do not give enough advance warning when they are closing 2 of 3 lanes. traffic was piled up for 5 miles. Took us over 30 minutes to get through the mess. Some clown was hanging on this bridge painting while 10 workers watched us go by. If there had been a sign 5 miles before this telling folks to move to the far left lane we might not have been stuck here. From Beaumont to Patterson the traffic was very heavy.

Our resting place for the next 9 days. The tracking system left us up the road about 40 miles. There are no reporting stations down here in the swamps. If you look at Patterson, La, highway 90, you will see that we are deep in the swamps. There really is nothing south of here. New Orleans is just east of us. I am praying that this lovely weather holds for the next 9 days.
What can I say but life is good. Look for us on the History Channel tomorrow night at 8 pm on Swamp People.
Dan,
525 miles southeast of where I was last night at this time.
